SLE6000H Ventilators: A Community-Funded Success at Glangwili and Bronglais Hospitals

The Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) at Glangwili and Bronglais Hospitals, have purchased five state-of-the-art SLE6000H ventilators, generously funded by Hywel Dda Health Charities. These new ventilators, worth over £120,000, represent a significant investment in the latest neonatal care technology.

Nick Davies, Service Delivery Manager for Acute Paediatric and Neonatal Services at Hywel Dda, shared his enthusiasm for the advanced ventilator saying; “We are delighted that generous charitable donations from our local communities have enabled us to buy these five ventilators, four for Glangwili and one for Bronglais. The new ventilators will help us to provide the very best care in our neonatal services.”

Bethan Osmundsen, Senior Nurse for Acute Paediatrics and Interim Senior Nurse for Neonates, emphasised the practical benefits: “The new ventilators ensure volumes of oxygen are delivered in a controlled way to patients, minimising the potential for lung damage, especially in pre-term infants. The devices also ensure that the benefits of ventilation are maximised so that we can stabilise a patient’s condition.”

Nicola Llewelyn, Head of Hywel Dda Health Charities, expressed her gratitude for the community support that made this possible: “We are delighted that donations from our local communities have enabled us to purchase state-of-the-art equipment for neonatal services which will benefit patients and families for years to come.”
